| Well, here is a very brief version of our engagement day!
It was BEAUTIFUL! We got to the "Pretty Place" chapel at 6:52am (I
remember the time, because that was the "official" time of sunrise). We
walked down the aisle of the outdoor chapel just in time to see the
morning fog covering the mountain and a bright orange sun rising in the
East. He has come to the chapel 2 hours early (yep - 4:30am) and set up
candles at the foot of the cross. We watched the sunrise for a bit and
then he sat me down to play a song for me (he had a friend help him
learn to play "A Page is Turned" by Bebo Norman). He sang to me and
talked for a bit. Then, he rummaged through the guitar case and
pulled out a ring-sized box. He said, "There is no better place to
begin the rest of this relationship than surrendered at the foot of the
cross." And on his knee he was. He tells people I didn't say "Yes" when
he proposed; I said, "ABSOLUTELY!"
We sat and talked in the chapel for four hours. He "repented" of all
the lies he had told me over the past four months (yep - he's a
long-term planner). He told me about asking my parents for their
blessing; he told me about getting the ring; and he told me about the
30+ people who knew we were getting engaged LONG before I did. He had
also written me a letter. So had our friends Brooke and Matt and
Lee. We read a poem my dad had written for us and prayers from my
mom.
There are lots more details, but I will hold back.
The sign above is the only picture we have from the chapel where we got
engaged. We wanted to remember only in our hearts and minds. Later, we
will probably go back for another sunrise, and then, we will take
pictures.
After calling my parents, he took me on a hike down to Rainbow Falls. BEAUTIFUL. We took a few pictures there:
This is what I look like engaged. Not much different huh?!?
I was BEAMING from the inside out though. That's for sure. I'm a blessed woman!!
We were trying to be artisty and good picture people. Here is what we came up with:

Bobby and I spent the whole day climbing and playing. (He arranged with
my boss for me to have the whole day off. HA!) We headed down the
mountain and back toward Columbia around 2 or 3. Then we went to Brooke
and Matt's for a CELEBRATION Dinner. That was a super special time as
well. They have both played such KEY roles in our relationship. We are
so grateful to the Lord for the MANY, MANY people who have been such
supporters and encouragers!!
Brooke and Bobby conspired for Gerbers (my favorite flowers) and Brooke
arranged for her ever-well-done Name cards. She's so cool. Here's the
final picture:

And there you have it. A xanga style engagement story. Formatted just for those little screens :)
I hope you are all well!

ps. I know that the book I'm reading doesn't really "fit" the wedding
season... but it's a pretty intense book. It will rock your perception
of spiritual warfare. You should read the first in the series before
this one though. "This Present Darkness" phew! INTENSE!
